Unfindable Ring on Bayonet Records finds Grumpy turning big hooks and sharp contrasts into an adventurous, full-circle record. At the centre is Heaven Schmitt, joined by Anya Good, Ellie Long of Kid Lake, Austin Arnold, Diego Clare of D.A. Crimson, and Lane Rodgers. Together they handle recording, engineering, mixing, artwork, producing, and videos, making Grumpy a genuinely communal project.
Schmitt’s writing balances joy and morbidity, shaped in part by the matter-of-fact darkness of trans experience in America.
