Northern Irish alt-rock band Therapy? have announced a special-edition reissue of their album High Anxiety on the 20th November.

High Anxiety was the seventh full-length album by the band, originally released on the 5th May 2003, and was recorded at Parkgate Studios between December 2002 and January 2003 with producer Pete Bartlett at the helm and also saw the mixing talents of Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Pixies, Biffy Clyro) again.

The newly remastered version will be released on vinyl for the first time, as a standard 140g black vinyl and a 140g purple/white splatter vinyl, while the 2CD version features demos of all songs from the album recorded at Fortress Studios in May 2002 with Pete Bartlett, with further demos recorded at Real Word Studios in Bath in 2003, alongside bonus tracks and b-sides.

Additionally, when the album is pre-ordered digitally, the track ‘Hey Satan - You Rock’ will be made available as an instant grat.

Andy Cairns (Guitar/vocals): “High Anxiety was the beginning of the rejuvenation of Therapy? Its first iteration had shone brightly, the second had bitterly eroded from its original ideal.”

Speaking about the original release, Michael McKeegan (bass): “High Anxiety was a big turning point for the band, a lot of what happened around that record is directly responsible for why we’re still going strong today. Excited to see it finally get a long overdue vinyl release, we worked closely with the mastering engineer to get the audio sounding great and pleased we got to raid our archives to share the demos and alternative versions.”

High Anxiety was the first album to feature drummer Neil Cooper. A long time friend of the band, Neil paid his dues over the years with bands like The Beyond, Cable and Gorilla to name a few.

Andy Cairns (Guitar/vocals): “The introduction of the like minded Neil Cooper on drums brought back a fresh energy and brio which we would develop further into the band as we know it now. High Anxiety, with its heavy riffs, propulsive rhythm and noise pop smarts was the first steps in our recovery”

Michael McKeegan (Bass): “Neil joined as a full time member which brought a huge amount of creative energy into the camp. Plus we signed a new deal with Eagle/Spitfire and
reconnected with Chris Sheldon who worked on the mixing.”

Neil Cooper (Drums): “I was new to Therapy? when we recorded High Anxiety. This was the first time I'd been into the recording studio with the band. Listening again to the album,
and hearing the additional material, brought back very fond memories for me. The sense of anticipation and excitement from the recording session came flooding back!”

Subsequently described as “a contender for album of the year” by Rock Sound upon release, with Classic Rock claiming the band had produced “arguably the first grunge classic in 10 years”, High Anxiety is 11 brilliantly crafted songs with a fierce punk rock edge.
