Hot on the heels of their album announcement and just at the start of their first proper European tour, which includes key support dates for Kurt Vile, Imarhan the 5-piece band from Tamanrasset in Southern Algeria, have released their main single and title track of their album “Imarhan”.

The signature track, “Imarhan”, is a joyous, rocking number filled with infectious grooves and delivers a beat and vocal line that make celebratory body movements impossible to suppress.

“Imarhan is one of the first songs the band wrote. It is aimed at everyone and every generation. It is about the importance of love in life, the importance of being well supported and in good company. Solitude makes life difficult. You need to be surrounded by the people who wish you well - the main concern for the band, a friendship story above all, Imarhan means in tamashek ‘those who wish you well’.”

Having previously played European shows with Tinariwen & Songhoy Blues and most recently with Mdou Moctar in London, just before Christmas, they returned last week to support Kurt Vile. Today they also announced their first ever US tour in April and more European dates to come this spring and summer.

Imarhan’s self-titled debut album will be released April 29th 2016 on City Slang worldwide.

"hypnotic rolling riffs, sandy swagger and relentless percussion are cut through with post-punk-like staccato guitar rhythms in an arrangement filled with unexpected breakdowns" - The Quietus

"this five-piece grooves on a psychedelic blues guitar signature that sounds like nowhere else" - SPIN
